The architecture

New construction is rare in the Greenwich Village Historic District, and this one sailed through: the design won Landmarks Preservation Commission approval on its first submission, according to Off The MRKT. Architect Idan Naor of INWORKSHOP clad the six-story building in handmade Danish Petersen brick and custom terra-cotta, a modern take on the ornate brickwork of the surrounding blocks.

The key is the lot. At 50 feet wide, more than twice the width of a typical Village townhouse, the building allows full-floor homes with unusually expansive layouts, high ceilings, and oversized windows.
